Outreach worker/Navigator
Onward Roseburg is a 501c3 non-profit organization that provides social services to our neighbors who are experiencing homelessness.
Outreach Workers successfully engage with the unhoused, cultivating trust with people in crisis in public spaces throughout the community. As a navigator, you will assist people experiencing homelessness to access housing, public benefits, health care, and community resources.
The outreach worker/navigator will . . .
- Have ongoing communication with unhoused individuals to discover their story, their strengths, wants, and needs to develop a plan
- Address a variety of needs including housing applications, making appointments over the phone, completing forms, arranging or providing transportation, and accompanying to appointments.
- Frequently use a cell phone or mobile hotspot to connect to the internet to perform tasks and coordinate services from the field.
- Maintain a record of interactions in individual case files and follow up with clients and providers to ensure proper delivery of services.
You will need . . .
- A valid driver’s license and reliable transportation
- Communication skills
- Microsoft Word and Excel experience
- To be nimble with internet searches, calls, hotspot, online forms, and email
Preferred education . . .
Preference will be given to applicants who are studying or have completed programs in Human Services, Social Science, Social Work, Nursing, or Peer Mentor
